Extremely rare Yellow Sillimanite from India.
A stone so rare that most are unaware of its existence. This rare mineral is often found as an opaque fibrous stone called Fibrolite. It is as rare as a mirage in the desert to find material suitable for a gemstone. When this is found it is called Sillimanite. It grows next to Andalusite and Kyanite. A sillimanite that is over 5 carats is next to unheard of in its rarity. This is a true collectors gem. The price fluctuation on these stones is drastic due to their rarity and difficulty to cut. Cutting an emerald is a walk in the park compared to cutting a Sillimanite. Only the most skilled gem cutters are able to cut a Sillimanite correctly. These are truly a coveted precious gemstone.
