Large Antique Vintage Chinese Carved Soapstone Lotus Leaf Brush Washer Bowl

Large Chinese carved soapstone brush washer in the form of an open lotus leaf with naturalistic curling edges and incised veins. These were traditionally used as part of a scholar’s desk set (wenfang yongpin) for rinsing brushes, and today make beautiful decorative objects or collectible scholar’s items.

• Hand carved from natural soapstone with [insert coloration details – e.g. warm russet, tan and olive mottling].

• Large size: approx.15”x10

• Lotus leaf design with detailed carving and organic form.

• Believed to be 19th century (Qing Dynasty), but exact age is uncertain.


Condition:
